Torque arms are a
necessity on almost all spring over applications. Not only will a
torque arm stop axle wrap, but it can also serve as drive line protection
when installed properly. Our torque arms are fully adjustable for
whatever pinion angle you are running, and can be adjusted whenever ride
height changes. They are engineered to allow the axle to flex without
binding, while still preventing the axle from wrapping. This is a complete torque arm kit and comes in a variety of lengths to
fit various applications. Every leaf spring vehicle that we build at
our shop ends up with one of these! This will keep you from getting
axle wrap and bending your springs. The lower tube is 2"x.250" wall
DOM, while the upper tube is 1.5"x.219" wall DOM. Both tubes are fish
mouthed and ready to weld to the bushing sleeve at the axle. On the
upper end, they are left long and can be cut to fit your application.
The lower heim joint is a 1.25"x1" chromoly heim joint with our 9/16"
high-misalignment spacers and tube insert. The upper heim is also a
chromoly 3/4x5/8" heim joint with our tube insert. All bushing
sleeves, bolts and shackle hardware are included. These kits come UNWELDED and UNASSEMBLED! You will need to weld the torque arm brackets to the axle, as well as the tube inserts into the tubes. The tubing will come notched on one end where you will weld it to the bushing sleeve. You will cut the other end to length before welding in the tube inserts. Many applications also require a cross-member or reinforced belly pan to weld the chassis end of the torque arm to. Be sure that you have a secure place to mount the chassis portion. If the shackle end is welded to some stock stamped cross-members, the cross-member will not last long! |
